TIME FOR PHILOSOPHY TO FLOURISH REJUVENATION OF CHINA AND HARMONY FOR THE WORLD, UPDATED "Xi, it is time for philosophy to flourish." Rejuvenation of China is the rise of Chinese culture. Philosophy is human wisdom above religion. It is the soul of a nation. Human created God, not the other way around. Harmony is the essence of philosophy, rule of nature. Philosophy is the highest human abstract thinking. In all art form it can soar above heaven. It is human wisdom without limit. Human strength comes from self-discipline. It comes from within. It can be guided by a self-founded national philosophy, not law imposed from outside. Philosophy is usually comes as guidance and up to self-discipline. U.S. crime and drug problems ultimately can only solved by self-discipline and not by law alone. Chinese culture is strong in philosophy and self-discipline. Philosophy propagates by resonance. China did not need to use force to spread its ancient culture. Yet Chinese styled Confucian culture is practiced all over the world especially in Asia. American culture is strong in law and ideology. They are not inherent human nature like philosophy. Thus America is inclined to preach and forcefully interfering in other countries domestic affairs. In today's fast internet world and social media we must learn eastern philosophy guidance with self-discipline. Western liberal thinking teaches us behaviors without self-restraint. All Confucian scholars know we must discipline ourselves with good virtue, learn to manage our family harmoniously before we can govern our nation for the benefit of our people, then we can bring peace and harmony to the world. Eastern philosophy teaches meritocracy and world unity. All men are brothers within the four seas. We are constantly reminded of this belief. The merits of Eastern philosophy teach us to uphold the mantra of community of common destiny. This belief will cultivate the necessary win-win cooperation spirit for world harmony. Western extreme liberal thinking breeds selfishness and aggression. That is the reason today’s world is mired in hopeless self-destruction. Harmony and peace can only be achieved by a rebalance of East and West culture. For world peace and harmony America and China must learn from each other. In service of harmony Francis C W Fung, PH.D.
